Two weeks ago (between 7-9 December) the Communities Secretary and a British Conservative Party politician, Eric Pickles, was in the Polish museum of the Holocaust. During the visit he had a chance to see the essential conservation work in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.
The Secretary of State was joined by Piotr Cywinski, Director of the Museum. The British Government assigned from the UK contribution about £ 2.1 million to maintain this memorial place on the Polish soil.
In Krakow the Secretary of State visited the Jewish Community Centre which was built and fully funded by the UK international charity World Jewish Relief.
